OUR MISSION

Captain Paul Watson Foundation UK is a direct-action ocean conservation movement. Founded in 2005, our mission is to defend, conserve, and protect the ocean from exploitation and environmental destruction.

Neptune's Pirates UK adheres to the utilization of non-violent principles in the course of all actions in the protection of the oceans.

This approach involves disrupting harmful activities such as illegal fishing and poaching, while also collecting evidence to support legal actions.

We raise public awareness, advocate for policy changes, and collaborate whenever possible with law enforcement agencies and international organizations to effectively combat threats to the oceans.

Life in the sea is at risk, and if the ocean suffers, so do we. Captain Paul Watson has been defending marine life for over 50 years using non-violent methods to stop illegal activities that harm sea creatures. His actions led to the Japanese whaling fleet leaving the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary.

As a co-founder of Greenpeace and the founder of Sea Shepherd, he's one of the most successful marine conservationists of our time. Now, he's setting up the Captain Paul Watson Foundation, focused on defending and protecting marine life with a more efficient approach.

Captain Paul Watson Foundation UK, founded as Sea Shepherd UK in 2005, is a registered marine conservation charity in England and Wales (registration number 1110501).The Captain Paul Watson Foundation UK, which also operates under the name 'Neptunes Pirates UK', is dedicated to our founder Captain Paul Watson's unique and highly successful non-violent direct action philosophy to saving marine wildlife.Previously known as Sea Shepherd UK until may 2023, our charity maintains our independence managing our own fleet and campaigns - while also collaborating with the Captain Paul Watson Foundation (International) and other like minded organisations on campaigns for marine wildlife in Europe and across the North Atlantic region.

Our campaigns will be solely for the benefit of marine animals who are our clients. Our investigations will be followed by action, whether that be physical or legal intervention. We will never be subject to restrictive agreements with governments, our media and opinions will never be censored, and our crew will go where needed, even if they are unwelcome.

OUR ETHOS

THE 3 LAWS OF ECOLOGY

01

THE LAW OF DIVERSITY

The strength of an ecosystem is dependent upon the diversity of species within it.

02

THE LAW OF INTERDEPENDENCE

All species depend on each other for survival.

03

THE LAW OF FINITE RESOURCES

There are limits to growth and limits to carrying capacity.
